Re: Spherical Tokomak

Normally, Richard (in his own words) is the garbage man and I am the invisible axe man behind these kind of posts disappearing before many of you see them. This time, instead of instantly deleting, I would like to make a comment about these kinds of posts. 1. There is a reason that we ask that you u...

Re: Small factoids about the forum - It has been 20 years!!

It has been an interesting ride over the years. It was the Songs and Intranets that hooked me back in the day. It was a wealth of information and discovery. There was not fluff. It was get to fusion any way you could. The people posting were the people doing the work that brought us to where we are ...

Re: NIF 1.9e16 Neutron Shot!

So let's see, a U238 tamper with a capsule with D-T in the middle. Besides the small size, it sounds like the same physics worked out from the original A bomb work. It is astonishing that they are only now looking at what was ultimately successful decades ago. I know the scale is different but symme...

Re: No more attachments (images) allowed!

The site is is under 1 TB including all attachments of photos and files. While we have the space, the problem is the number of crawl hits that run up the costs that are related to the specific bandwidth (GBUs) that is already getting significant overages each month. THAT is the main reason to keep t...

Re: No more attachments (images) allowed!

Pascal, you bring up many topics. Let me try to address them. 1. The site currently has a total storage allowance of 10 terabytes. This is a very generous allotment. 2. Quoting is frowned upon not because of storage space but rather reading real estate. Clicking on a page that has multiple threads q...

Re: No more attachments (images) allowed!

The board was setup to notify me as the size of the attachments grow. It was not supposed to limit but apparently it is. I have raised the quota size of the the board. I have also dropped the photo size limit down to 500 Kb each. It has previously been set to 5 MB but we are burning through storage ...

Re: A theoretical discussion based on data re. fusor conditioning fusion

The other observation is the "ruddiness" of the plasma and star during start up. It cleans up on consecutive days of operation. Interestingly, this effect is seen even if the chamber is pumped down to 10E-5 torr for a good part of the day. This should pull out a great deal of water and air that is t...

Re: Titanium walls

Then there is always a chamber within a chamber. Like with my larger chamber, I can put in outer grids for a variety of purposes. My usual outer grid has around 100 needle points to facilitate ionization. It stands off from the main chamber but is grounded. A series of curved strips or even a titani...

Re: Titanium walls

Titanium is only one of many elements that load hydrogen. While it cannot be electroplated by conventional means, palladium can be. Early on I did some palladium plating and it was rather easy. Many companies sell plating solutions that could do the task inside of a small chamber.

Re: Frank Sanns in the hospital!

My timing for this health scare came just before the HEAS. It was probably for the better as had I been driving or in a remote area, I would most likely not have survived. As it was, it was a battle that was nearly lost but for some reason, I was spared and am grateful. A few days ago, I received a ...
