Re: My Attempt at a DIY Ionization Gauge

Actually this reminds me of this cryogenic thermometer Cody's lab made

Re: My Attempt at a DIY Ionization Gauge

you should calibrate it with a functional gauge and make 5 runs, take data, calculate averages and standard deviation and plot it, it'd give you a great insight and would look much more professional

It does not look pilot actuated. It might work. There are electric solenoid valves with kf fittings, I have one in KF16.
I know, but they are much more expensive

cheap solenoid valve

Has anyone tried this cheap solenoid valves

https://www.amazon.com/Brass-Solenoid-N ... B01E0NRW30

to hold vacuum for some minutes

i don't expect much from them, but they may be worth a try

Thanks

Re: Alternative Reactor Design

There are some world-class accelerator based neutron sources that get pretty darn close (as laboratory beamlines for studying materials or basic physics). When high neutron fluences are needed for production processes, whether breeding fuel or doping silicon ingots, the work has to be within or ver...

Re: Has a neutron energy spectroscopy ever been done?

damn, already done, and pretty professional to be honest

Thanks for the link, i looked for neutron spectroscopy, but the search engine splitted the words and was impossible to find anything

Has a neutron energy spectroscopy ever been done?

With the ions colliding at diffenrent velocities, some energy spectrum from the neutrons might be expected Given a detector with a narrow detection energy and placing different amounts of moderator between the neutron source and the detector, with some NIST data the energy spectrum could be retrieve...

Re: Some plasma

Thank you Mr. Hull

i'm really looking forward to produce the neutrons, as an additional project i would like to data log the fusor operation vacuum, kv, current and neutron yield at least

I'd probably open a topic presenting some ideas and techniques that could be useful to others in the forum

Re: Alternative Reactor Design

Better control is one major plus for Fusion/Fission but also there is the potential for fission fuel breeding using the Fusion generated neutrons. For example using UF6, which is a waste product of fission fuel production, the fusion generated neutrons can transmute the U238 into Plutonium. Another...
