Re: Usable Diffusion Pump?

the first pump has no mains input cable and the input voltage is not listed.
the second is the same and does not have a controller.
with some research and some spare parts, you might be able to get one of these to work but you would probably be better off finding a pump with the necessary components.

Re: Fusioneers in San Jose CA & Troubleshooting

maybe look for a hackerspace/Makerspace in your area as they might have a vacuum pump and/or gauge that you could test it with.

Re: Spellman DXR3000/LC -- Help??

-Greg you may want to use the capacitors to smooth out the rectified wave-form otherwise it will have the same properties as AC. You could also get high voltage cable and wrap 20-50 turns around an iron core to act as an inductive ballast also, you might want to calculate the conversion rate from AC...

this is quite interesting,
do you know the current output of a device like this and what input are you using?

Re: Vacuum pump rebuild

please keep us up to date on the results as I have always avoided broken parts due to lack of experience with repairing them and would like to see someone repair vacuum parts.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Varian-Air-cooled-Diffusion-Pump/202262520277?hash=item2f17c921d5:g:59AAAOSwjlBaMdwi if you live in the US this is a great deal as it has a throttling valve as well as being air cooled. I'm not going to bother buying it as down under the outlet voltage is different as well a...

Re: valve for throttling

thanks for the quick replies andrew sadly that valve is a bit small as I am using a 2.75-inch chamber but I found one here that is cheap-ish https://www.ebay.com/itm/MDC-Manual-Angle-Valve-Conflat-Flanges-2-75-AV-150M-SP/282726817515?hash=item41d3d4deeb:g:NLoAAOSwywRaA76o and if anyone is selling a ...

valve for throttling

good morning
I am having trouble tracking down a cheap valve (butterfly or gate) for a diffusion pump and was wondering if it is necessary to have one and if it is possible to machine one.

multiplying dc

for the power supply for my fusor, I am going to use an NST and a voltage multiplier and I was wondering if a croftcocker-walton multiplier would multiply a dc supply or would I have to use an ac supply. and if I need to use ac how can I convert dc to ac.
