... thing: no overcurrent protection device may interrupt the connection between the boost secondary winding and the hots side of primary winding. The safety reason is obvious on inspection of a schematic, IIRC. Beware of free advice from the Internet. Hey, how about doing what amateur machinists have ...

Operating three phase high voltage power supply on single phase power

... phase motor; but they have the disadvantage of giving asymmetric output, consume wasted power turning the idler motor, are noisy, and present a safety hazard with the turning shaft (sealed idlers with no shaft are available, but they cost more than a surplus motor). Solid state phase converters ...

Of course, always wear safety glasses and and ALWAYS surround any glass vacuum chamber that is under vacuum with a grounded wire screen/cage! At the very least one should ...

... And by the way, thanks for the Spellman link! It'll be quite a nice resource as I continue to build my HV system. I also think that it's a great safety resource for anyone who is new to HV components and sources. Sincerely, Joshua Guertler

Re: Hello from Wisconsin!

You will not just find some useful information but a lot of essential information including safety and a lot of how-to that is both practical and accessible; if you ever get far enough to actually try and build a real fusor, the many posts on a host of topics as well ...

Re: WA6-30N High Voltage Enable

Are you you enabling (shorting) the safety interlock before plugging in the AC power?

Section 3-1 in the manual shows the steps you need to follow.
Section 4-4 states that if the interlock is opened the output is cut off until the AC power is removed and turned on again.
