Every fusor and fusion system seems to need a vacuum. This area is for detailed discussion of vacuum systems, materials, gauging, etc. related to fusor or fusion research.

Hot Cathode Ion Gauge Mass Spec?

Post by ian_krase »

I was looking at Rapp ents' interestingly simple pipe tee mass spectrometer, and it occurred to me that one could possibly use a Hot Cathode Ion gauge controller as the essential electronics to a simple mass spectrometer. These instruments are dirt cheap if you don't care about cabling, so I'm interested to hear if anybody has any comments on this Wacky Scheme.
