Good design???

For the design and construction details of ion guns, necessary for more advanced designs and lower vacuums.

Good design???

Post by clarkmcc »

I built a couple of ion/electron/x-ray guns. There is a filament that I will soon be upgrading to tungsten and I have installed an electron accelerator. What do you think the voltage and polarity should be on that? I intend to make a new gun that can be vacuum sealed but this is what I've got for now. Is this a good design so far?

Clark,

You will need to give more detail in your posts if you want us to understand your work.

I read that you are 13 year old, so it is important that you have a qualified supervisor if you intend to experiment with a combination of high voltage and vacuum.

Generating X-Rays is not rocket science, anyone can do it, but it is very dangerous, the ionizing radiation damages the chromosomes in your cells, and for a 13 year old, who is still growing, that's not so cool.
