Ion Gun Vs. Electron Gun
So, can someone please tell me the difference? I know what an electron gun is but until this forum i've never heard of an ion gun. Is an electron gun acceptable for fusor use?

No an electron gun is not acceptable in a fusor. An ion gun in a fusor strips the electrons from the deuterium atom before they are injected into the chamber.

Hey Russ,
Please read all the FAQs in the construction thread, there is only one on ion guns but it answers your question. ( viewtopic.php?f=30&t=5041 )
It's really beneficial to do so, as you'll get a lot of information from them.
If you don't know where to find the FAQs, they're located at the top of each sub forum. E.g: Click into the "Vacuum Technology" thread and there is a sub-forum labelled "FAQs: Vacuum Technology" stickied to the top.
Cheers,
Tom
