Dr. Momota is a good friend of George Miley, his not a kid like most of George's students. His a very shy man and his work is often published under one of his fellow IEC researchers. Try searching under the University of Kyoto.

If that does not work, as George himself he can tell you were to find him, because George consulted for the Japanese IEC effort.

I would speculate the technique used to detect the double potential well was either the laser method or the bouncing of heavy ions from the virtual cathodes which the Universtiy of Kyoto did a couple of yearas ago.
