Is it possible to create a vandegraff powered fusion reactor

Van de Graff generators, as you kow create large amounts of static electricity. Could the static potentials be used jn a farnsworth-hirsch fusor. Also as side note, could you used 2 anode ray tubes with small amounts of deuterium gas and power the tubes with Van De Graff generator.

Welcome to the forums.

The subject question, and others you guys posted today, belong in New User Chat Area. It's the only section where it's proper to expect a timely answer to a frequently asked question.

When simple and common questions appear in the more focused sub-forums, many regular contributors see it as annoying clutter, and dilution of the technical dialog. We disrespect questioners who could have found their answers by reading FAQ files, or doing elementary forum searches.

This might be a time scale thing. I'm sure there are popular fora where any discussion more than a week old is forgotten and might as well be erased. Fusor.net has followers who have been contributing for as long as many noobs have been alive. Topics that come up every _year_ may fairly be considered frequent.

How about if you all assign someone to spend a couple hours practicing with the forum search tools, checking general threads as well as those classified as FAQs. And assign someone to dedicate a couple hours finding their way around long-standing FAQ files in some selected area, perhaps HV Power or, you guessed it, Other Forms of Fusion. If you think it's onerous to plow through those FAQs, imagine what it was like to make fusors at home before the Internet grew up!

Warning: the forum search tool here, even with Advanced option, fails to match words that are even a little bit mis-spelled. Google, ebay, etc. are more sophisticated at figuring out what you are probably looking for, because they make more money that way. So start with the correct spelling, Van de Graaff, then try variants if necessary.
