Still waiting on diodes for rectification, but I put the NST in an insulated box, hooked up the variac, and made a controller for my thermocouple gauge tube based on the Bell Jar's design (http://www.belljar.net/tcgauge.htm).

It uses an op-amp to amplify the thermocouple's voltage to 1 volt full scale and is a nice alternative to buying the controller. I don't have the tube yet, but once I get it I am going to test it/use it to test my vacuum pump. It's an interesting situation, but I think I'll be able to figure it out.

Finally got the diodes and hooked up a rough rectification circuit. I am going have to think about how to make it look pretty. Anyway, I will be setting up the voltage divider and meters in the next few days.

I'm glad to see you used only the proper HV rated wire.

!!! Oh that last comment was supposed to be in jest.
The more reactive the materials, the more spectacular the failures.
The testing isn't over until the prototype is destroyed.
