Hi Folks:
I don't know what is is danged special in the gun area.
Build the right gun ....Thanks Phil.
Use ALL conflat and diff pumps with an ion pump topper...
No Worries!
I got some Emails from those with cravats that lo this was university territory.
HA!
Take a look folks.
100 % all Ebay with some parts from Dunniway's Stockroom.
I have an outsized diff pump (6" dia.reduced to 2.75" conflat) that is almost as long as the beam line and vacuum tubes.
I use red vacuunm tubing to hook up my old fashioned (1950's NRC Pump) to my old timey Welch 1640 vacuum pump.
It is 2.75 conflat all but it changes very easily.
Don't like something break out the wrench and change it ,leak test it ready to go. I have built and rebuilt this unit 6 times now.
Works well.

Instruments need to run the beam line
Nim bin for neutron counting with bf3 eberline neutron counter for detetion. Bottom
Ion gauge controller for ba tubes middle
Storage oscilloscope for nim trouble shooting Top
All this is moving to a rack soon as it hits the door.
My Camera sucks! But I have a new on on the way.
