Here is a report generated to show the effects of various lead thickness' on the large gamma spectrum of Ra 226.
It relates directly to the use of plain plastic scintillators as neutron counters and suggests that a minimum of 3" of solid lead are required to surrond such a system in moderately high gamma fields.
