Attached is a file showing a boost converter circuit used to generate +20V to run an old Tracerlabs "Snoopy" neutron detector. These old deterctors appear to run off a +20V source rather than the 3 D cells used by the newer NRC/Canberra version of the detector. The boost converter uses 4 C or D alkaline cells (6V) for input power, which should fit comfortably inside the detector electronics box.
Nest step is to reattach the ground wire on my detector to see how much juice the old beast actually needs...
