Old-Fashioned Vacuum Tube Factory closing down -- may be interesting?

Post by ian_krase » Sun Apr 15, 2018 3:20 pm

There's a sort of vacuum tube factory closing down in Oceanside, CA (south of LA) and trying to sell off some of their equipment. I'm not sure what is really valuable to people who aren't into tubes, but they appear to be getting rid of some reasonably sized diffusion pumps which is sure to interest.

Ian
Thanks for posting!
I had the privilege to meet Mr Harold Ulmer, who started that facility. He gave me a memorable tour and a present: a microfocus X-ray tube.
He was a scientific glassblower in Stanford at war time and later he decided to enter in the electron tube business when it was down.
He supplied a lot of spare tubes at many remote places along the world.
After passing away, his daughter continued the enterprise until now.
I am almost sure there are dozen of items I would be glad to buy for my small lab.
Unable to do a trip, I remain waiting if someone is willing to share.
Best,
Roberto
