I bought a set of 3 books on eBay: "Plasma Physics," "Instabilities and Large Amplitude Waves in Plasma," and "Small Amplitude Waves in Plasma," from a series of Selected Reprints published by the American Institute of Physics.
The latter 2 are pretty advanced and difficult to read, but Plasma Physics is very interesting. It's full of diagrams and explanations of fusion concepts, plasma instabilities, single particle motion, and photos of experiments.
It's 119 pages, and has content from Alvin Weinberg and Lyman Spitzer.
It's probably about the closest thing to a "plasma physics for dummies" that I've found.
A place to keep track of reference material - any particularly useful books, articles, etc. should be listed here.
