Great Book

Post by Mike Veldman »

I had managed to track down and order several books that were mentioned here recently, but it takes a while to get around to looking them all over critically. The one I read through last evening is well worth a mention. Nuclear Radiation Detection by Price, really good stuff for the garage experimenter as well as the guy who gets paid to play with radiation detection. I love old texts. There are block diagrams for hooking your amplifier, scaler, counter, discriminator, coincidence and spectroscopy blocks in the correct order to actually measure something. Explainations on the functions of the various blocks and the various detector schemes. Good commentary on BF3 and Boron doping, even a good answer for a couple half baked ideas I've wondered about. I highly concur in the recomendation that this book should be in our library.
