Gravity

Post by George Schmermund »

I've been totally absorbed for the last year in the development of a propellentless propulsion system for a maneuvering low earth orbit (LEO) spacecraft. The propellentless spacecraft's main objective is to reduce the amount of LEO debris that is now becoming very worrisome. The funding comes from NASA's "Game Changing technology" program. The relevant part of all this is that I went to see the movie "Gravity" in 3D. Space debris in spades!

Before going to watch it I prepared my cognitive machinery with the proper amount "activators" and It was quite a ride. The movie detaches itself at times from what good science might be, but so did "KING KONG", and I managed to enjoy that, also.

I recommend seeing "Gravity" if only for a sense of the growing probability of the movie's theme and plot in the not too distant future. See the 3D version if you can.
Anything obvious in high vacuum is probably wrong.

Given the physics involved, wouldn't "Inertia" be a more relevant title as that is effectively the third character in the film?

What does the movie Gravity have to do with nuclear fusion or fusors? From what I can see it is irrelevant.
