I wonder how long it will take for this to be duplicated elsewhere. I would think that this technology could also be applied to visual pigments such as rhodopsin to understand the efficiency of biological eyes to effectively capture and amplify single photons. This may have already be well understood but certainly the transfer to technology is still wanting. Larry U.

It appears that some organisms are also capable of converting other froms of radiation into energy. Inside the sarcophagus of the Chernobyl reactor growth of a black fungus was found. Nature often finds a way.
One of the first life forms to successfully recolonize a nuclear test site where Tumbleweeds. Their DNA tended to be tempered to excess radiation. It makes one wonder, what might be evolving in radon filled mines.
