Dear Gentlemen,

I'm not sure how relevant, but if someone wants to take a look at few Dimona nuclear reactor photos:

Those are Mordechai Vanunu's photos from the '80s, offering pretty solid evidence at the time that Israel was cooking up plutonium and lithium for nuclear weapons use at their Negev research facility.

Israel has always refused to confirm or deny the existence of its WMD programs. Those programs depend extensively on imported technical materials from the UK, US, etc,. and by not officially admitting to the WMD activity, Israel provides a thin official cover of "plausible deniability" to foreign governments exporting technical materials (which would normally be export-restricted) for use in Israeli WMD programs. Needless to say, Vanunu's pics threatened to slow down that gravy train, and did not go over very well with the Mossad. He was kidnapped from Italy, tried in secret in Israel, and sent to prison there for many years. I believe he's out now.

Thank you very much Carl for detailed explanation. Although I heard the story of Mordechai Vanunu, I was under wrong impression that those particular photos were not published previously. I think (easily checked by googling) that Mordechai Vanunu is free but is occasionally incarcerated for prolonged periods (e.g. during Christmas, etc)

One photo was confusing though, I always thought that the nuclear material in the bomb is not in the shape of ball, but half-ball or similar.

Kind Regards,

The core looks a bit like my first S.T.A.R. cathode
