Hi,

I work as an electronic technician doing embedded programming, design and testing.
After watching a few YouTube videos I've become interested in creating a sputter deposition chamber and an electron microscope.
I discovered this website recently from researching those other topics which now has me interested in making a Fusor too.

Ahh, cool!

I'm also doing sputtering. I think I just succeeded in depositing my first silver film.

Welcome and good luck. This is a fusor forum but one can learn/obtain a great deal of useful vacuum and electrical knowledge here. Hope you try a fusor but I too first did sputtering in high school long ago. Read about the power systems and detector systems required of a real fusor to get a better idea of what is really required and often causes people the most trouble.

What type of materials have you guys sputtered?

Ian, do you have a plan for the silver film or just trying different materials to sputter?

Silver is kinda generally nice because it's fairly inert and capable of being soldered, brazed, or electroplated. First is going to be lots of hacking around with the process. I've only made one film so far.

Later, I may be making some art and/or glass PCBs.

This is an introduction thread and not one to discus such issues like that here; however, there are further issues here with this topic that I could discus/correct because I think you are under a misunderstanding. So, PM me but do not start a new thread - that subject just isn't an appropriate topic for this forum.
