Ray Rothrock, a venture capitalist from Venrock discusses his experiences with venture capitalism and Tri Alpha Energy. An interesting read, at the least. In my opinion, the breakthroughs in fusion will be coming from the private sector in the next decade rather than universities and research facilities like NIF.

It was, indeed, an interesting read. It contained all the usual feel good about fusion, feel good about green power and the often quoted sophestries so often laddled out to the reader of such things related to this or that new fusion direction. Hope springs eternal and good money after bad.
They could not have picked a more green reaction or one that is more dificult to produce net energy from, much less even make happen to a minimally measurable level. Naturally, no real data on what they have actually done and not one mention of having made the reaction actually go with P-B11 on an interesting or even hopeful scale.
Lots of highly successful modeling and even promising experimental plasma results with stuff other than the real stuff (P-B11).
Fusion is the energy of the future and it always will be.

Progress may have been a good thing once, but it just went on too long. - Yogi Berra
Fusion is the energy of the future....and it always will be
The more complex the idea put forward by the poor amateur, the more likely it will never see embodiment
