I'll post this to the front page of the site, too, here it is in the meantime:

http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/06/24/new.yo ... =allsearch

This is a pretty well-rounded write up, and does a better job of putting this project in the context of what we (well, y'all) have been doing around here for years. They've got some input from Stan Milora, director of the Fusion Energy Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, , and some by named "Schatzkin" speaking on behalf of this site with a colorful quote or two.

I particularly appreciate the quote from Dr (?) Milora that says:

"while Suppes' experiments may be amateur because they are smaller and less complex, they can be more efficient than the massive projects funded by national governments."

I think we've been stressing that point around here all along, so it's good to see somebody picking up on the theme.

There is one minor error, where it says:

"Schatzkin added Suppes to his site's Neutron Club -- a list of 38 worldwide "amateur fusioneers" -- on June 8."

...and I don't want Richard to think I'm taking credit for the effort he puts into maintaining the 'Fusioneers' list. So I guess that makes us even <g>.

Paul,

They always get it wrong. Why do we bother? Oh well. Even it is! And.......it is now even through no fault of our own.

Fusion is the energy of the future....and it always will be
The more complex the idea put forward by the poor amateur, the more likely it will never see embodiment
