Hi Dan I would like to make the middle grid element of a Hirsch style fusor out of thoriated tungsten so I can pass DC through it for heating and subsequent electron emission for the ion generation, a bit like those basket style filaments of the RF ceramic power tubes. Also diamond doped with iodine if i remember correctly will emit electrons at about 60 volts bias and no heating, but CVD coatings are affected by the hydrogen and the heat i think.
