I just recently picked up 20 feet of 100kv "noodle wire". that is the super supple silicone HV wire that is the subject of this original post. The stuff is so compliant that a one foot span sags under its own weigh! I paid $5.00 for the entire length. The diameter is about 1" (looks like white garden hose.) I have a number of old X-ray cables made back when neoprene and rubber were king. A 100kv cable was almost 2" in diameter and was like a fire hose under pressure.

I'll be using this on Fusor IV soon.

Silicone wire is the best thing ever made for High Voltage. Keeping an eye peeled at hamfests can often net a number of real finds. If you need this wire, now fork over th' big bucks. Otherwise, sniff around prime alternate sources while assembling components.
