I have a 15KV, 30Ma, center tapped, Neon transformer that I would like to use for a power supply in my planned system. I don't plan to do any fusion work, just plasma confinement. Looking at the plans for the power supply given in Richard Hall's paper, "The Farnsworth/Hirsh Fusor", my transformer rated 15KV, will have an output of only 7.5KV to ground. Is this enough Voltage? I also have an oil burner transformer that puts out a lot of voltage (3 inch spark gap in air) but it is not current limited. Will this one work?
