Of Corse this has been done back in 1968 By Hirsch and Meeks for the AEC demo on a hotel cleaning cart of the type you see the maids pushing around when they ignore the do not disturb sign during an early morning tryst with your girlfriend. Photo is on my website. (not of the tryst... of the cart).
The whole thing could be made smaller today, though not much.
The best thing could be a portable large suitcase rig with a sealed off, baked out, preloaded fusor chamber with video camera, monitor or jack to a video projector and neutron counter to a loud speaker. A simple 10ma 30kv supply to plug into the wall and you are off to the races, stunning the quasi-informed masses.
Imagine a darkened room with a video image 8ft by 10 foot of just a waxing poissor turning into a star as the counts come up from silence to a 5 cps rate.
It freaked out the big hot fusion boys in 68' at the AEC. I am sure it would continue to amuse and amaze. I have seen it many many times and am still just as impressed as the first time.
