High voltage resistors
Index Previous in Thread Next in Thread

I am having some trouble finding resistors for the high voltage end of the power supply. The power supply requires a bleeder resister (10 meg ohm 5 watts) and Richard Hull recommends a current limiting resistor (60K ohm 150 watt). What is a good source for these items? I have a Radio Shack commercial catalog and have ordered a Newark cataloge.

I can make up a combination of six 25 watt, 91K ohm, 1000 volt, wire wound resistors (Radio Shack cat#900-1394) with three parallel sets of two resistors in series to make an network good for about 60K ohm and 150 watts.

Making 10 Meg 5 watt resistor network that will take 15 KV out of 150K ohm resistors is rediculous!
