Get ready for a treat if you go to one that is big. Take plenty of cash, as checks and charge cards are often sent packing.
The whole thing is a great adventure. Almost always held on Sundays at national guard armorys, fair grounds, exposition halls, etc., they can become a narcotic to the would-be amateur scientist.
Maxim #1 Never, ever take the wife and kids. (it's like having a ball and chain on each leg with a Marine D.I. yelling in your ear constantly.) Not a pretty sight. Maxim #2 Go with a male friend and split the gas costs. Females expect YOU to pay their way! Silly girl things. Maxim #3 Carry with you a sturdy back pack or pull around cart or wagon. Parking is often over 2000 feet away!
