Re[2]: Rough Fusor Budget v.2

The combined gas inlet, TC guage and view port show be fine, albeit a bit busy area on the chamber body. noe should interfere with the others.

It is very normal for epoxy, potting compunds, rubber and plastic hosing, etc. to outgas for some time. Eposies should be vacuum rated and not normal household brands. I have never heard of anyone using potting compounds in vacuuo, but only time will tell.

I have none of this outgassing material in fusor III and it is now the third day for outgassing. I hope that by this evening, after another glow cleaning session, the thing will hold a decent vacuum in the <10 micron range for over an hour once valved off.

In my first demo fusor I used a nalgene dessicator, vaccum greases, silicon gaskets, plastic lines, etc and over a week was needed for the 1400 I was using to hit 50 microns!! After a couple of weeks of tugging away at it, I hit 21 microns, the lowest it ever attained. Even then, valving off saw a 100 micron rise in under 5 minutes.

Good luck with you plans.
