Photocopiers HV Supply
Index Previous in Thread Next in Thread

ciao, I want to share a thing with the fusion people.

I have found a good article on a local electronics magazine. It describes how to make a 0 - 15 Kv DC ~100mA variable voltage power supply using the high voltage modules inside photocopiers. These modules are usually made by Murata, they only need a 12VDC input. Since they are CC-CC converters, construction of the power supply is not difficult and requires NO fancy equipment. The only major issue is changing the potentiometer of the voltage regulator on the module and construction of the chassis.
If someone is interested I can scan the article, but I remember to you it is written in Italian. (Schematics are clear however) I imagine it should be simple to make it current variable too, with very few changes... And that's the way I'll go. The result is a light, variable, professional look, cheap, HV DC power supply you can carry with you for demostrations, and you all know that a NST is heavy.

Maybe some sort of series or parallel modules is possible to achieve other values, and make it a more complex project.

Now I have 3 old copiers here at work to dismount... :)
Maybe I find some other good stuff inside.

Also this modules are easily found at hamfests for few dollars. Hope this helps someone.

ciao
Daniele
