I would like to discuss strategies to raise the grid temperatures. Active verses Passive cooling of the grid. I have a few ideas, like if you flattened your grid wires into a flat shaped ribbon the edge would still be the same size as the wire but would have surface area in order for the grid to radiate accordig to black body radiation laws. (Boltzman's constant times Temperature to the fourth power.) The ribbon could be coated with a highly emmisive substance. That is one idea for passive.
For active cooling, I have come up with this thought. Why not build a cooling deck for your grid wires to sit on for cooling? If the deck could be thin enough then the electro optical properties of the sperical grid could be maintained The cooling deck could be wedge shaped , that is large at the heat exchange site and tapered down until you reach the grid. It could be all metal and conduct your power feed also. I would use liquid metal say sodium potassium alloy or lithium lead alloy as my heat transfer medium to the cooling deck. Water could be turned to steam in an exchanger with the liquid metal. I personally would use the liquid metal in a MHD setup with steam as the topping cycle.
I have read about the hyperdermic tubing but it would suffer bursting at high rates of heat.
I may be ahead of where the problems are at this time. Any questions or suggestions would be appreciated.
