All of these high vacuum feedthroughs are really just ceramic forms holding a wire. It occurs to me that you might be able to construct one for any range out of basic pottery supplies.
You could form clay around a wire, ripple the outside to reduce creeping, set a steel connector into it (threaded, conflat, whatever), fire it, and finally glaze it (a clear glaze is basically glass as I understand) to get a feedthrough of any rating.
What are people's thoughts?
