Logiteck and others make web cams capable of displaying 640x480 lines of resolution on a VGA computer monitor(~$100). They come with all the software for still capture, MPEG vidio clips etc., for web posting, printing and such. It does mean having a Pentium based 300 Mhz computer tied up for a vidio display, and I am not sure about IR sensitivity.
