I have had similar thoughts. If a few of us pitched in, it'd be a couple hours work for each of us, tops. If the existing threads are piled into documents, at the very least those compiled docs could be retrieved from a new site. I suppose the actual threads could be reconstructed, but that'd be a lot of work, too.

I'm also tempted by the possibiity of building a searchable database, but that's a much more formidable task.

Right now, for me, the biggest issue in a "pay" service is collecting from the members. I have a built-in budget for personal website hosting with AITcom.net, which hosts my personal site and "farnovision.com" among others; There would be NO additional dollar cost to me or anybody else if we built our own kingdom under the "fusor.net" heading there...we'd just need to marshal the technical manpower to engineer it to our satisfaction.
