Re: An alternative venue

Admittedly, this venue is not perfect. I looked into e-groups before setting this up, but felt that this site offered some features that make it more desireable inspite of the seeming "restrictions."

For one thing, I think it's good to know WHO our core group is. If an announcement needs to be sent to everybody by e-mail, we can extract the e-mail addresses and send a message.

For now, I think the most important thing is to have the "core group" from the old BBS intact in one place. I'm very encouraged that we now have more than 2 doz members in this forum. Apparently the requirement is not all that much of a deterent.

I will be meeting with some folks next week as part of an ongoing effort to find the best platform for this discussion.

However, once we have everybody with a genuine interest assembled in one place, then we can all engage a discussion about a possible better venue, and move en-masse.

E-Groups is certainly one possibility. When we've got more research and info, we could conduct a "poll" here to see what the group preference is.

Until we get to that point, I would encourage everybody that's registered here to keep the discussion going here. There was some urgency to get a new venue open before the old one gets unplugged, and this site seems to be working well enough for now.

If decide that there is a better service available, we will be able to move there en-masse.

Does that sound reasonable?
