The reason I said maybe on that question is this: It is true that the fusor is the cheapest way to do fusion, but it may not be economical or practical to provide grid power via fusion reactions. I posted a rough economic analysis on the old BBS that implied net economic losses for fusion at today's prices.

I plan on working up a better analysis that asks the question "What conditions must exist for fusion power to become economical?". Just as an example, follow the link to the He3-D fusor, and look at how much He3 costs.
