I've noticed a disturbing lack of consistency with what constitutes "new' in the listings, too.
Intranets.com has been pretty good about making useful improvements this basic format, and is responsive to user suggestions.
What would be best - something like a cookie that can tell each USER what is new to THEM when they log on? Followed by a function that displays JUST the new mesages in a treaded order?
If that makes sense, I'll make the recommendation to Intranets - we might be surprised how quickly they make the changes.
