Current progress/ future prospects
Index Previous in Thread Next in Thread

I apologise for being quiet recently and the lack of progress on my website! I'm a university student and exam time approaches fast.....
Currently lab work has stagnated as I've pretty much settled on an improved chamber rather than a repair of my current one. The good news is that my university MAY allow me to produce this chamber as my third year 'group studies' project. This would involve me working with a few other students and would get me a budget (probably only a few hundred pounds but still an amazing luxury). It would also give me (official this time) access to all sorts of resources such as power supplies, new(!) neutron counters etc.
The only problem is I'm torn between two different proposals:
The first would be a simple fusor with computer monitored and controlled inputs/outputs with the goal being maximum stability of neutron production.
The other is a 'proof of concept' penning trap based design

I'd like to hear peoples thoughts on which would be most interesting and their relative complexities. Thanks.
