Re[2]: Governor Davis' response

I have to disagree with you here. It is a direct result of political BS that got CA where it is today.

- People in CA wanted the tightest environmental restrictions in the world. They got it.

- They wanted an end to coal, oil, and nuclear power. They got it.

- They don't want more power plants in their state. They got it.

- They wanted price caps so that the consumer didn't have to pay the price for their decisions. They got it.

Now they want to be bailed out because their politicians did the popular thing instead of doing the right thing. And they want the power companies to pay for it. I don't think that is right. Despite what the politicians in CA have said, the power companies are just selling electricity. They have not manipulated the market at all.

I don't fault CA for wanting clean power and for not wanting nuclear power. Those are the decisions of the people. But that comes with a price tag. Governor Davis tried to insulate the people from that price tag, but it backfired on him. The people of CA need to stand up and admit they made a mistake, pay the price, and get it corrected.

Government intervention is ALWAYS a bad thing, especially in the economy. This thing needs to work itself out naturally.

I will make a prediction as well. When people find out that fusion creates large quantities of radioactive material through activation, they will react exactly like they have with fission. They will turn on the fusion effort immediately through fear and ignorance.

I am now off my soap box. My humble opinion.
