Well spoken Clay!

I will not even get on my soap box as you have spoken to my thoughts exactly regarding the CA mess.

Somebody has got to belly up to the bar and assume responsibility, but alas it will never be john Q. Public. To many, too nebulous.

Regarding focusing on fusion power.........

Fusion electrical power generation is not even in a position to be realistically discussed by cogent beings! By what known process can we even begin serious planning for gigawatt fusion energy? None exists! We are about as far along as we were in 1950 when the multi-billion dollar debacle began.

The big reward from all this is that a lot of our fellow Americans, (about two generations) were suckled from the federal fusion teat and their children put through college and they, safely retired.

At least we in this discussion group who are doing fusion now are not deluded nor attempting to delude others. We are also shelling out our own hard earned cash to experiment. Noble, but still abortive at best, as regards real power. Hell, some dweeb we now know might get lucky, ya' never know, but I am not planning on heating my home in the future on those long odds.

Newtons forgotten law of motion: "Round and round see goes and where she stops, nobody knows".
