I have obtained some samples of ZnS:Ag and ZnSiO4:Mn phosphors suitable for use in scintillator plastics and was wondering if there is any real reason that polystyrene has to be used as the plastic material?. Would polyester resin work just as well as it is also hydrocarbon based?. If anyone has any ideas to contribute to this homemade scintillator effort, I'd appreciate them.
