Richard, excuse me but I do not understand the meaning of "hiss".
Since I am not an electronic engineer, I need to make clear some points. I've read lots of pdf from various nuclear insruments producers and all the infos from Lux's website, but I am still a little confused about the approach in making a counter. That's why: Some documents say a PMT + Pre +Digital Counter is sufficient, others say I need a discriminator + shaping amplifier connected between the preamp and the instrument... And other talk about this SCA that does all in one. Device I do not have.
I'd like to make it simple. that's all.
So my question goes if it is possible to do it only with a PMT + Preamp and a good universal counter. Because I was convinced (after reading docs) that a shaping amp and some sort of discriminator was needed.
