Neutron Counter Calibration
Index Previous in Thread Next in Thread

For those having a formal neutron counter and seeking professional calibration, Ludlum Instruments in Texas offers a fantastic service whereby they use their neutron source (Am241-Be) and give a minimum of two data points per range in a returned certificate which is NIST traceable. They advise as to whether you need repair or not as well.

All for $70.00 Not bad at all!!!

I called and talked with theire engineers today and got a warm and fuzzy feeling from them. I told them I would be sending in one of my Eberline PNC-1s and they chuckled as the instrument, while well known and understood, is a real dinosaur.

For those interested in shipping units off to receive this plus ultra calibration, go to:

http://www.ludlums.com

Here you can check out the calibration services, prices and other data plus print out theire returned good form (PDF) to ship in with the instrument.

I would imagine they would take in a home made unit, but it would have to be self contained with a simple power cord and on off switch. Nothing cobbled up on a pine board with three other pine board projects needed to be plugged in to make it go.
