I dug up the URL for the U. of Kyoto researchers - it's www.energy.kyoto-u.ac.jp/english/henkan/cc2.html. What they really say is that proton production is in rough agreement with neutron measurements, without attaching any numbers to that statement. BTW, these guys were apparently getting 5 X 10^6 neutrons/sec in 1998....
