Take a solenoid for example: Rather than the wire being wrapped around a hollow iron core along the length of the exterior of an iron tube therefore resulting in a longitudal B field, the wire wrap itself occurs longitudally over the ends of of the tube resulting in a centripital B field.
Any insights into the feasibility of this option?
Perhaps 4 of these set up in a polar-quadrupole configuration with two opposing e- beams along the z-axis? Thanks
