I have not seen a specific reference to this, but it sounds familiar. Richard Hull may be able to fill us in on this, but I think the reference here is to the work being done by Dr. George Miley at the University of Illinois in Champagne-Urbana. I believe that some of Miley's work is funded by Daimler/Chrysler. There was a reference to this work in one of the articles I posted or linked-to somewhere, but I can't find it at the moment. But I believe you're right, Chrysler has got some interest in the fusor via Miley's work.

Also, Bob, thank you for you comments re: amateurs. Of course you are right, I hope I haven't implied any slight in my use of the term.
