Re[2]: Vacuum chamber Thickness

One reference that every vacuumist should have is Alexander Roth's "Vacuum Sealing Techniques." It was originally published in 1966 which means that it is just into the high tech era of vacuum technology but before everything was store-bought. Roth covers chamber design issues (strength and materials selection), permanent, semi-permanent and demountable seals ranging from wax to metal to welded, glass to metal seals, motion/fluid/electrical feedthroughs, leaks and metering devices, windows for passing radiation and particles (electrons, etc.) as well as basic vacuum theory and practice.

The American Institute of Physics and the American Vacuum Society reprinted the book a few years ago as a 800+ page paperback for around $35. It's available from AIP Press and can be ordered online.
