Hi all, in another post (fusor construction section) Richard Hull said his fusor, after a long run, achieved an external temp. of 125 degrees C... So I want to ask the pros, why not using a viton sealing instead of conflat... I don not see 10-11 torr vacuums or 24 huors bakeouts. So, viton can work up to 150 degreesC continously, why not using it ? It can be cheaper in many ways (from flanges to o ring) And any time you have to open the chamber you do not have to cry about you $ going away with a new copper gasket.
I read about ISO KF sealing can go much lower than 10-5 torr required for pump and refill of the fusor.
Am I wrong ?
ciao Daniele
