Hey, I use a bell Jar for one year on fusor II and actually just barely did neutrons with it for very short bursts. So, a cylinder is OK.
That having been said, If you can get stainless steel.........Do stainless steel. There is just no substitute.
Glass is fine for demo fusors, but I would not recommend it for any real fusor attempts, period! I was fortunate in that my Ber jar was kimax and extra heavy walled.
