Re[14]: The Hummer V

My hi vac setup is very simple: an inline 2" diff pump with no bypass valves. The dp inlet (a fitting that's either non-standard or infrequently used) is adapted through a modified CF adapter to 2-3/4 CF. From there it's all either 2-3/4 CF or with an adapter to KF40, both common and plentiful on the surplus market.

Pumping speed through the diff is no problem so I can either use it or not.

I did just acquire an air-cooled Varian pump from an old leak detector and I may take out my water cooled pump just to avoid the hassle of the water lines.

The newest of my diff pumps is about 10 yrs old. My oldest running pump is over 40 yrs old. They never break. Another advantage over the turbo for amateur work.

Fusors have very simple vacuum requirements. Keep it simple and your vacuum problems with be few(er).
